The south west of England is like a stag weekend playground with so many places and activities to choose from.

Rob Twinn works at Race World, a go-karting centre in Exeter.

"A lot of the stag parties we get through here completely underestimate the power of our karts; they think that they’re going to be driving one of those things you get at your local fair. All our go-karts are finely tuned pieces of machinery, couple that with a set of slick tyres and a chassis that positions your arse an inch from the tarmac and you’ve got yourself an awesome pocket rocket.

Race World has been in the karting business for quite a few years and in that time we have developed a great ‘hair raising’ race course which has been designed to put even the best driver through their paces. We’ve got chicanes, twists, turns, straights to put your foot down, hairpins – basically everything you see those guys driving in Formula 1 we have on a mini scale.

Stag parties are generally with us for a morning or an afternoon. On arrival we get everyone kitted out in racing suits, gloves and helmets and then show them around the kart. It isn’t difficult at all because all people need to worry about is the accelerator, brake and where to aim themselves.

We let everyone have a few trial laps just to get the feel of things before splitting people into groups. We aim to have between four and five karts out on the track at one time which is really so there aren’t any bottlenecks building on the race course.

The races are generally 10 laps of the course after which the person with the overall fastest lap times is crowned group winner. We also have an overall winner who was the fastest on the day and present them with little trophies as mementoes of their stag weekend.

Go-karting is a really competitive, fast paced and massively fun activity and all of us at Race World love the mix of stag parties who come through our door.
