Get kitted out in your tank suit, slide on your helmet and its off to the tank track where you will be introduced to your charriot. After a briefing and a run down on the health and safety stuff, you sit on your backrest/seat half out the top of the turret and get to soak in the atmosphere as the instructor drives you around the track. Now it's your turn......Once you are familiar with the contols, it's slowly down on the accelerator and away you go. The first lap is done with the drivers hatch open so that you can become accustomed to the track and the controls. Then it's out of your comfort zone for the second lap as you lower your seat down and the hatch gets closed above you. Driving in battle conditions looking through your periscope is not so easy. Third and final lap is of your choice, will it be hatch open or closed? One things for sure, you will have a new found respect for the guy's and girl's in the Army!
