Good news for lovers of proper football everywhere: Eric Abidal, the Barcelona defender who underwent a liver transplant in April, has been told by the surgeon that performed the complex procedure that he could play football again. The French player, who has just turned 32, hasn’t played a minute of football since the end of last year and is no doubt eager to get back on the pitch.
“It’s up to him. I wouldn’t stop him. Time will tell,” doctor Juan Carlos Garcia-Valdecasas was quoted as saying. “If Eric responds well, there is no reason why he shouldn’t.”
Apparently the liver regenerates every three months, meaning that he could play again next season. Good news for those of us who like a few tipples then! In fact, the Nou Camp Experience is one of our most popular activities on a Barcelona stag do. Participants can walk out of the tunnel and onto the hallowed turf, visit the changing rooms and even take a seat high up in the press box.
So why not do old Eric proud and go experience what he will hopefully do so again one day, by taking in the atmosphere and history of FC Barcelona’s grand old stadium on your Barcelona stag weekend!
