Sending people on stag weekends to over 80 destinations across Europe every Friday means that we need to have our grubby mitts on the pulse at all times. This includes of course knowing the news stories which could have an affect on how you lot enjoy your trips away.

Whilst scouring the interweb for funny stuff to tell you about we came across a report that’s no laughing matter. Condom sales in Poland have fallen a record 10% over the past year, whilst other forms of contraceptive have also seen their sales slump. Now this struck us as a little odd seeing as Julius Fromm, the inventor of the rubber johnny, originated from Poland!

We came up with a couple of reasons for the slump. Firstly, lots of people could be deciding to kick off the new year by having a baby. Perhaps the economic crisis means people are so down they have decided to give up sex all together. One thing is for certain though. When out on that carefree, birds and booze-heavy Krakow stag do you should heed the words of that loveable oaf Jeremy Kyle and “put something on the end of it.”

We’ve heard our fair share of hilarious stag party stories involving the best man deciding to stay in Prague, Budapest, Riga or wherever he was supposed to come back to supervise his best mate’s wedding from, in order to settle down with a lady he’d enjoyed a holiday fling with. A few times the happy couple even started a family and new life together, yet we’ve also had a couple of blokes telling us about relations they had on stag weekends only for an unexpected mother and son/daughter couple to arrive on their doorstep years later.

So chaps, when you’re thinking about getting friendly with the wonderful Krakow ladies, remember to buck the trend currently being experienced in Poland and buy lots of rubber!

Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein

These areas (“plein” means square) are very much for tourists, but if you’re only there for a weekend and your main aim is to wander from pub to pub and get in amongst the hustle and bustle of the city then these are probably the main areas you’re going to stick to. Good pubs and clubs can be found off the Leidseplein.

Hit the canals

Amsterdam is famous for its canals and its definitely worth touring them on your stag weekend. We’ll organise you a riverboat tour of Amsterdam on its fantastic waterways. Oh, and did we mention that it’s unlimited booze whilst you’re on board and the boat drops you off at a fantastic Dutch bar at the end? Now that’s what being on a canal boat should be like.

Beer Bike Party

This is a fantastically unique experience for our Amsterdam stags. Get a group of you together and enjoy the beer bike experience. Imagine you’re very own huge cycling bar because that’s what this is. They usually fit anywhere between 10 and 20 of you and it really is the perfect way to see the city by bike.

Red Light District

It just wouldn’t be a stag weekend to Amsterdam without the red light district. If you’ve never been before be prepared to stare and double take as you pass some stunning women (and stunning… not so women) standing in the windows trying to tempt you in. Whether you’re going there to get your end away or not, it’s definitely worth a look.

Smoking Cafes

Whether you’re into it or not, these are probably worth a look in as well. They’re not hard to spot, they’re usually well, smoky and everyone looks ever so slightly tired inside. Remember to keep an eye on anyone who’s not used to this though because you could lose a stag group member or two who end up sleeping for the rest of the weekend. Not good.

Sex museum

If you’ve got a spare half an hour and fancy a bit of naughty culture have a stroll down to the sex museum. It’s pretty cheap and well worth a look in.

Beer Crawl / Experience

Amsterdam is also famous for its beer, particularly Heineken which is the main brewery in the area. The Heineken experience takes you through their old brewery which is now a museum to all things Heineken.

Listen up stags, I want to tell you a story about Birmingham in case you’re thinking of choosing it for a stag weekend… Set in the heart of the Midlands lies the once industrial giant of a city Birmingham. Its days of industry are not as they used to be, however we couldn’t really give much of a monkeys as rather than being a town known for its factories and industrial output, it’s now ship shaped up into a city of considerable party atmosphere, and anyone who’s anyone knows that is far more important than anything else. Stag weekends in Birmingham are more popular than ever and for some reason, when you guys go there what you really want to do is go-karting. Well, who are we to stop you doing what you want. As so many of you are asking about this particular package we thought we’d give you the lowdown.

Getting to Birmingham

Birmingham is slap bang in the middle of the Midlands making it a major transport hub. Whether you’re coming by car, train or even flying, you’ll find plenty of services and roads that eventually get you into the city. Birmingham is also near the infamous Spaghetti junction. If they’ve done anything, they’ve made sure that you have plenty of choice in how to get your stag group into the city.

What’s the Go-Karting like?

Go-Karting in Birmingham will make a fantastic stag weekend because of the venue we’ve handpicked for our lads. It’s not far from the city so you don’t have to worry about heading to some industrial outback before you get to do your activity. You’ll be greeted by a team who know how to lick some rowdy stags into shape on the track. Once you’re fully briefed and kitted out, there’s nothing else to do except hit the track and put pedal to metal. Of course it’s not as simple as that because you’ll be fighting desperately for first place as you whizz round using muscles you didn’t know you had to try and make it past your mates.

And on the night?

Birmingham bursts open in an evening and at the weekend it brings residents and students out to drink away the hours from Friday to Sunday.  That sounds like our kind of crowd and when you see what kind of choice Birmingham offers for getting pissed, you’ll know why it’s so popular (apart from being a national past time). Broad Street is the main stretch for shopping and pubs and clubs and you’ll find some very trendy places here like the Revolution Bar and Oh Velvet. If you can get into the Living Room, it’s also worth a look in for some swanky action.  Birmingham New Street Train Station also has a healthy gathering of pubs nearby like the Bennetts, The Old Joint Stock and The Wellington which are all good sized pubs which get filled up easily at the weekend. For clubs you have a mixture which will appeal to most tastes from cheesy Flares, to the stylish Superclub Oceanas. Believe us; you won’t have difficulty finding somewhere to whet your whistle!

We’ve always know that Leeds is a city well famed for its nightlife and party atmosphere. We send plenty of happy stags there who almost can’t keep up with the pace of fun in this West Yorkshire city. It’s about high time we give it a little mention on these blog pages and if we’re repeating ourselves, it’s only there is so much on offer on a stag weekend in Leeds that it deserves it s praises to be sung.

How to get there

There’s no wonder with its location that Leeds is a busy city for transport. Leeds City Station provides regular routes in and out of the city connecting the rest of the country with direct lines to London, and plenty of connections to the rest of the country. If you have guys in your group who are scattered around the north of the country, Leeds is a great gathering point. It’s easy to get to by car with the M1 and M62 crossing over just south of the city.

Famous people from Leeds

Most of the cast of Emmerdale and a few from Coronation Street. And Marco Pierre White – but don’t let that put you off. That’s just the famous people. The actual locals are far better to spend your time with. They’re friendly, funny, down to earth and love a drink or three at the weekend.

What to do in the day

Leeds has a great reputation for shopping whether you’re after high street names, designer names or independent stores. If that’s all guff to you, then you could organise your weekend away to take in a football match, or let our guys in the office set you up with an activity at one of our first class activity venues. From paintballing, to golf, quads to karting, we can set you up with a whole day of high speed adrenaline to get you raring to go before hitting the town at night.

What to do at night

If you’re hitting the pop straight from the train station, you won’t have far to travel and there are plenty of the usual suspects around this area (Wetherspoons etc). Venturing a little further, if you head up Park Row, you’ll come across Greek Street and there are some nifty little boozers here such as OK Karaoke, All Bar One and The Living Room. This is quite a trendy upmarket area so expect more cocktails and wine than quiet pints in a traditional pub. Around the corn exchange area you’ll find some more places to sup in. Expect more independent and quirky bars but no less trendy or popular. The Headrow is the main road running east to west across the city and you’ll find pubs dotted around here. For later on in the night there are a number of clubs also near the corn exchange so this is a good area to head to if you wanted to cut down on your walking distance from pub to pub

Make sure everyone knows the flight times

Ideally, get yourselves to the airport together, that way you can keep an eye on everyone and avoid strays. If you are travelling separately, make sure everyone’s clear about when your flights are. There’s nothing worse than being stranded in an airport when all your mates are getting stuck into the celebrations 30,000 feet in the sky.

Do something adventurous

If you’re going abroad, you’re pretty much going to have an amazing time whatever activities you do, but why not take advantage of being somewhere different by doing something really different? You could try shark fishing in Albufeira, Snowboarding in Amsterdam, Skiing in Stag weekend Riga or extreme gun firing in Krakow and many more destinations. You’ve travelled that far; make sure you have plenty of weird and wonderful stories to tell when you get back home.

Take Out Travel insurance

It’s going to be messy and hopefully the worst you’ll have is a bruised ego and some damaged pride after your antics on your night out. However, on the off chance anything more of you got hurt, you don’t want to be without insurance.

As the summer months approach, demand for our outdoor sports is increasing and for some, the idea of hanging on to a rock face for dear life whilst making it down suspended from a rope is the perfect way to spend a stag weekend. Without a doubt, you will experience adrenaline should you choose this activity for your stag weekend.

What is abseiling?

Abseiling is where you use a rope to help you descend a rock or cliff face. It was originally developed by guides who would find themselves faced with a cliff too dangerous to climb down without more protection and it has enabled many explorers to reach the nooks and crannies that other leading methods of exploration fail to reach.

What can you expect?

You and your stag party will be given a full briefing on safety, which is of utmost importance and then you’ll be given your equipment and taught the basics of rock climbing and abseiling before giving it a go yourself. You will have a harness that will be attached to the rope and you will be taught how to control your descent by easing the rope through a mechanism to control the speed of this. It can be physically demanding and you should expect a lot of adrenaline as you first go over. It’s a perfect activity for the guys in your group and they can take it as easy or as advanced as they’re comfortable with.

Where’s Exeter?

Exeter is located in Devon, which is in the southwest of the country. You can reach Exeter by car on the M6, or take a train to one of the main stations in Exeter, Exeter St. David’s and Exeter Central which provide good access from the rest of the country.

Why Exeter?

Exeter stag weekends are an unexpectedly fantastic choice. The locals are easy going, but there’s still plenty going on. It’s a hub for businesses and is in the top ten most profitable locations for a business to be based. There is a strong young professional crowd as well as having a thriving student population. This means that come Friday night, there is a thirsty fun loving crowd looking for entertainment.

Where to go at night in Exeter?

Tourism is a big factor for Exeter which means there are plenty of bars and clubs to cater for the nightlife. Many of the nightclubs are located down by the Exeter Quay. Some of the popular clubs include: Club Rococo, Timepiece, Tezza and Riva. For bars, these are mostly scattered on streets either side of High Street. Getting there

If you’re coming from mainland England, it’s probably easiest to take a flight. There are plenty of destinations throughout England that head to Dublin and with fights at competitive prices, it’s never been easier to arrive in the Emerald Isle. Once you’ve arrived at the airport, you’re only a few miles away from the city centre which is easy to get to by bus or by taxi. You can also get a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin or from Liverpool to Dublin. There are some reasonable fares but those northern waters can be choppy and a shaky stomach isn’t a great thing to start a stag weekend with.

We always make sure our guys are in central accommodation so you don’t need to worry about wasting time or money travelling from your hotel to the action.

During the day

Dublin is a beautiful city to wander round with some great shops especially on Grafton Street and Henry Street and in the famous Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre where you’ll find a range of independent and high street retailers.

If shopping isn’t on the agenda, then chances are the Guinness Brewery tour might be. It’s well worth a look round and entry gets you a pint of proper Guinness at the end and for some reason a pint of Guinness in Ireland tastes so much better than in England. Of course you can also do all the classic stag weekend activities in Dublin such as golfing, quad biking, clay pigeon shooting and paintballing if you want to shake things up in the day time.

During the night

Dublin is famous for its night life and appetite for a good time. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs just waiting to entertain you and your stag group for the night as long as you have the stamina for it. The area that most people have heard of is the Temple Bar area – which isn’t just one big bar, it is actually Dublin’s “cultural quarter” and you can expect something of a medieval setting with cobbled streets. What’s most important however are the number of lively bars, pubs and clubs that you can find here.  This is a favourite with stag and hen groups coming from England so expect a rowdy fun loving crowd. This isn’t the only place to find night life by any means, and around the area of St. Stephen’s Green you will find some of the most popular nightclubs in Dublin.

If you really think you’ve done and seen everything on your stag do, then get your bags packed, take your passport and a spare pair of socks and prepare to hit Budapest where as well as partying all night long in this amazing destination, you’ll also be entertained like never before with a medieval banquet. Budapest is easy to get to from many airports in the UK and it is served by many of the low cost airlines so you can still justify going abroad for your stag do even if you are watching the pennies. It’s a once in a lifetime thing (we hope).

This activity is definitely one to get dressed up for and just think, back in the day of King Henry it was all about eating and drinking far too much and indulging in whatever took your fancy. Does that not sound like a stag party? For this event you will be seated in a banquet hall and over a few hours will be entertained by court jesters and performers whilst being served course upon course of fantastic food. Forget your bite sized nouvelle cuisine shite, this is a meal fit for a stag party which means it needs to be big, dirty and very filling. With course upon course washed down with your tipple of choice, be it beer, mead or wine you and your friends will indeed feel like kings for the night. A great obvious twist is obviously dressing up the stag as your favourite wench and offering him to other tables for their merriment!

During the day you can get yourself into the medieval mood by taking in some of the breathtaking sights this city has to offer.  The city is split into two parts by the river Danube and on the West you have the hilly historic part of Buda and on the East side of the river you have the modern and vibrant area of Pest which is where the main bars, shops and entertainment areas are. From the Castle District, to the Royal Palace you’ll be faced with some stunning architecture and you’ll have to pinch yourself to believe you’re in the present day. Take some time to explore the historical part of the city and have your camera at the ready because even though you’re there to drink and party, getting a couple of shots you can show the missus is always handy.

This medieval banquet works so well in Budapest which is the capital city of Hungary. As a historic city, it has fast become a popular destination for stag weekends. Budapest has many late night party venues that can see you drinking and dancing till dawn, you just need to know where to look for them. Budapest is one of those cities where it is worth doing a little research about the pub and club hotspots you can find tucked away in a corner of the city if you don’t want to hit the main tourist traps. Choose this and you are bound to have an unforgettable Budapest stag weekend.
