Groom replaced by cardboard cut-out on his stag do

A groom-to-be was replaced by a cardboard cut-out of himself on his stag do in Berlin after he missed the trip to the volcanic ash.

The best man, Gavin Bell, was the only stag member that succeeded in reaching the German capital before the ban on flights caused travel chaos.

So, while the groom, Gareth Hale, had to miss out, he will still have photos of himself at the city's tourist spots thanks to his best man's interesting (and rather barmy) idea of taking the cut-out around town with him.

Gavin, from Chester, told the Daily Mirror: "I got a few strange looks but at least Gareth has some pictures of him on his actual stag do to show at the wedding."

Gareth added: "He is a legend. I will be buying him a pint."
