Stag parties 'could try sailing'

16 Sep 2009

People looking for a fascinating and different activity to try on a stag weekend might be interested in the latest comments from Sail Scotland.

The organisation explained a break on a boat could offer an adventurous excursion, with director Tony Bennett suggesting people are now wanting more of a challenge than in previous years.

He explained the "predictable" Mediterranean Sea contrasts the testing waters of Scotland and said this may appeal to those on a break.

"If you want sheltered waters, there's the Firth of Clyde, where there's plenty of marinas, anchorages, moorings and lots of places to eat and drink and enjoy yourself," he added.

Stag parties could combine a spot of sailing with a stop off in one of the towns along the river, such as Port Glasgow, Greenock or even the country's largest city itself.

A recent YouGov survey found almost a third (32 per cent) of respondents chose Scottish islands as their ideal island getaway in the UK.ADNFCR-2122-ID-19364763-ADNFCR
