Now getting married is not something you really want to do more than once. For one unlucky couple it is certainly not an experience they are likely to want to repeat.
Shelley and Kris Hood had planned a lavish and well organised wedding in Gibraltar, but an unfortunate series of events conspired to make the whole affair one not to remember.
- a week before the wedding the hotel was closed for refurbishment
- the reception in the UK was cancelled by the venue
- Kris was made redundant and had to cancel the Stag do
the ideal Mediterranean spot was lashed by storms and torrential rain on the day of the wedding, as a result – there was a power cut
- many guests were left stranded at the airport
If there is a next time for either Shelley or Kris it is respectfully advised that they seek advice from a professional wedding planner to schedule and coordinate the day of the wedding and have the Stag and Hen parties arranged by a competent firm who deal with a wide range of custom packages both in the UK and abroad. One does, however, suspect that after these experiences they will stay married for a long time.
OMG! That is horrific – thankfully we are getting married in the UK and have sorted a professional wedding planner!
I sympathise with Shelley and Kris as me and my husband had a similar experience. Our wedding venue in the Carribean was cancelled and we had planned to have our hen and stag night out there with our family too, so all of that was ruined. We lost a lot of money and had to postpone the wedding for a year later. I definitely reccomend booking all your events with reputable companies as you know that you will be compensated if anything goes wrong. I hope they eventually managed to tie the knot!
Sounds like a bad experience. Hopefully everything will go to plan with our wedding in 2010. Going through a company sounds the best option!
