Bank holiday motorists warned of gridlock

If you have a UK stag weekend planned for this final Bank Holiday weekend of the summer then you may want to consider the possibility of motorway gridlock.

The suggestions are that millions of Brits are to take to the roads this weekend for a long weekend in the sun (if we are lucky) and a large number of these are sure to be stags, who will want to be doing lots more exciting things than sitting in a traffic jam.

Friday is predicted to be the busiest day on the roads, with one survey finding that a staggering 41% of 18-25 year olds say they have organised a day trip over the weekend.

The areas to avoid may possibly be Leeds and Reading where music festivals will be adding to the chaos on the motorways.

Esure’s Mike Pickard said: “Travel delays are standard fare for any bank holiday weekend but this week we’re facing a perfect storm for delays on the road. Millions will opt for the car and a large percentage will not prepare properly.”

Our advice is, well, to take a train as nobody wants to be driving on a stag weekend.
