After missing out on a performance at Prince William’s royal stag do, Snoop Dogg has consoled himself with an unlikely slot at supermodel Kate Moss’ wedding this summer, as she prepares to marry The Kills’ guitarist, Jamie Hince. The couple will marry in Oxford in July and Snoop is said to be excited about his appearance.

A source said:

“Kate’s seen Snoop at loads of festivals and she really wants him at her wedding. They’ve had talks and Snoop loves the idea of performing.”

“Kate wants it to be a party to remember and like a small festival,” the friend said. “She has drawn up her dream list of artists she wants to play and is wasting no time asking them… Her pals are dubbing it Kate’s mini-Glasto from the line-up she has in mind. It’s turning into a whole weekend celebration.”

Other rumoured acts included Beth Ditto of Gossip fame and even, The Rolling Stones.

Snoop himself has finally spoken about why his rumoured slot at Prince William’s London stag weekend never happened, claiming only a prior engagement kept him off the bill:

“I had a barbecue to attend, so I couldn’t make it,” Snoop told Graham Norton on his chat show,

He was also asked if he had any advice for Wills on his upcoming married life…

“Yeah, I’ve been married 14 going on 15 years, so I know what I’m doing.

Stewart, played by Ed Helms is getting married this time and is reunited with Alan (Zach Galifianakis), Doug (Justin Bartha) and Phil (Bradley Cooper), who believes that sticking to the formula was essential in the sequel sharing the same success of the original.

“The sequel can’t be, ‘Let’s make a movie that has a completely different story but it won’t matter because people love seeing those guys together.’

“I don’t believe that – when you look at sequels that don’t work in comedy, it’s when they abandon the formula. I was very happy that there was a structure – a ticking clock, a missing night,”

Mel Gibson was originally cast in the film as a tattoo artist working in Thailand, but after cast and crew protested on the controversial actor’s inclusion he was replaced by Liam Neeson in a scene that was eventually cut from the film. Mike Tyson reprises his role as… Mike Tyson, after an inspired cameo in the original. The film’s production has been beset by controversy, including a false rumour started by director, Todd Phillips, that a monkey became addicted to cigarettes during filming.

‘Obviously, the monkey in the film never smoked a single cigarette. Even if I wanted her to smoke, it wouldn’t be allowed.’

He said: ‘By the way, she also appears to do cocaine in the movie, but I guarantee you that she didn’t do that either.’

Apparently, the headline that the American RSPCA-equivalent were furious with him was “one for the office wall”.

The curiously popular The Only Way is Essex had a wedding to announce between Mark Wright and long-term on-off partner, Lauren Godder. Stag weekend ideas for the weekend that looks to be Spain-bound are being handled by Mark’s gang of ne’erdoweller pals, Arg, Jack Tweed and his brother. The ITV2 program has been nominated for a BAFTA and is a ratings smash as viewers lap up this hypnotic blend of reality TV trash – definitely one in the guilty pleasures strand.

In other news, the Foreign Office announced what most sane people already knew, Brits like to go wild on their stag dos, while offering some frankly plain obvious advice to travellers about to make trips for their stag do abroad or in the UK.

“Stag and hen dos are all about having a great time but the celebrations can come to an abrupt end if things go wrong,” a Foreign Office spokesman said.

Good, go on…

“Cultural differences mean some people will take offence to risque fancy dress costumes and rowdy behaviour.

“To avoid a hostile reception from the locals or even spending the weekend in jail, make sure you research your destination and know your limits.”

While they’re at it they could announce that smoking is bad for you and that wearing sun-tan lotion in 25 degree heat is generally a good idea.

Finally, the Sunday People plastered a picture of the soon-to-be-married Prince William dancing on a table with a couple of feather boas and a scantily-clad lady infront of him. Exclusive pictures of a wild stag do? I was alerted by the presence of hair atop the royal’s head that these pictures might not be a fresh scoop and was proved to be correct, when some way down the page it was let slip that the pictures were taken from Will’s student days some 8 years ago. Well done, chaps, some top work there.

Britons haven’t had much to shout about in recent times. Of course the economic downturn means Brits are more skint than ever, last year’s World Cup campaign was a disaster, and even our all-conquering cricket team was battered by Ireland last week.

Fortunately there’s one thing we will simply not be beaten on. In a survey by Trip Advisor, Brits were found to be the heaviest holiday drinkers. Clutch those 3 lions to your chest and “praise be” to Saint George, sound out Rule Britania: your boys took one helluva beating. We’re willing to waiger that a stag weekend UK stylee had more than a part to play.

Yes, according to the survey Brits are found to drink a staggering 65% more on holiday than they do at home, with Europe’s average a rather more modest 41%. Italians were found to drink just 28% more. The survey of more than 6,000 travellers found that 29% of Britons enjoy 5 alcoholic beverages on average per day, comparing to just 10% of Europeans.

TripAdvisor spokeswoman Emma O’Boyle said: “British holidaymakers have long been known for liking a drink when away, but it seems Brits really do up the ante with alcohol on holiday in a way our European neighbours do not.”

The survey also found us to compare favourably with our European neighbours when it comes to health matters abroad. A respectable 3/5 score was given to the Brits, with Italians found to be the least health-conscious and the Spanish the most.  This factored in how seriously we take diet and excercise while holidaying.

British holiday-makers were found to be the least likely to smoke more away, while Italians were the most likely to smoke more.

The Trip Advisor spokesperson added: “While it’s encouraging to see that Britons are more health-conscious than most other Europeans when it comes to smoking and sun protection on holiday, we’ve certainly been shamed on our diet, alcohol intake and exercise by the Spanish.”

Four Birmingham City season ticket holders cut short their stag weekend in Poland to attend yesterday’s League Cup Final against Arsenal at Wembley. Costing an extra £70 each, the lads were due to return from Gdansk after the match, but groom Warren Bassett was quick to rearrange after Birmingham’s triumph over West Ham in the semi-final.

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Bassett said:

“It’s a game we just knew we couldn’t miss. This is the first major cup final at Wembley in our lifetimes.”

The 31-year old IT analyst from Solihull attended the final and would have been delighted to see his side end a 48 year trophy drought by claiming an unlikely 2-1 victory over Arsenal. Obafemi Martins hit the 92nd minute winner after a defensive mix-up between vowel-shy keeper Wojciech Szcesny and the hapless centre-back Laurent Koscielny.

The rest of Warren’s stag party had to be content with watching the game on a bar stool in a Polish pub. Poor blighters.

It has been calculated that the average Briton takes 120 holidays in a lifetime and spends more than £168,000 in doing so.

The poll by Teletext Holidays took our holiday lives as starting at the age of 18 and lasting for around 60 years, meaning we spend a staggering £2,750 a year on getting away from it all.

We would estimate a good number of these holidays would be stag weekends, although going by The Stag Company prices the cost of these party holidays will be a drop in the ocean in relation to the overall costs.

The study also found that the most popular destinations for young people on their first holiday without their parents is Newquay, London, Blackpool and Brighton, which sounds like a list of our favourite stag do destinations.

However, the favourite stag and hen party destination was identified as being Amsterdam.

Teletext Holidays managing director Victoria Sanders said: “Holidays are increasingly being used to mark important milestones in people’s life. There are more people travelling for stag and hen weekends, to get married overseas or celebrate ‘big zero’ birthdays than ever before.

“An ageing population means that we are travelling for longer and we can fit much more of the world into a lifetime than ever before.”

The predicted post Christmas gloom in the travel industry did not materialise as Brits chose to give themselves something to look forward to by booking up their holidays last month.

Research from IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index says that there was a 31 per cent increase in holiday bookings in January in comparison with figures from 2010.

The study also found that the average basket value of holidays booked was £886, which is the highest figure since the survey began in 2008.

The Stag Company has also seen a positive start to the year with bookings for stag dos up considerably from 2010.

IMRG information director Tina Spooner said: “Sales of travel were strong during January, particularly after the severe winter weather in December. Clearly, Britons are not tightening their belts where holidays are concerned, with the Index recording the highest average spend in this sector in over two years.”

Predictions for a disappointing year had been made as the financial cuts begin to take their toll on our ability to spend, but it seems holidaying is one luxury we do not want to give up, and rightly so!
