We were asked yesterday, live  on TalkSport about what we’d suggest for Prince William’s Stag Weekend, following the engagement announcement  a couple of days ago.

What Can William REALLY get away with on his Stag Weekend?

There are 2 ways you could look at it. If he’s just shelled out on a ring that’s worth £250,000, he may be a little hard up, so perhaps a cheesy and cheap stag weekend in Brighton, popping into a strip club would be best suited. But we did think that there is probably a law somewhere that doesn’t allow you to sellotape a future King, naked, to a lamppost down West Street (The main Stag club strip in Brighton for all of you not in the ‘know’).

We’ve settled on a Riga stag weekend instead. The stupidly lax gun laws there are so good that you can get your hands around live-ammunition-filled Kalashnikov’s, and Prince William could take a few pot shots into the bushes behind his targets, where there may or may not be literally hundreds of the ‘paps’ hiding. It is hunting season, and he is the stag, so we won’t frown upon that.

We were also thinking of offering his best man, Harry, the chance to stitch him up with a Kidnap The Stag package, where the local police over there (not the corrupt ones!) come and snatch the unsuspecting Stag and scare the bejoolies out of him at the thorough  enjoyment of the rest of the lads.

NOTE TO SELF: Send a memo to MI5 before we set this up, just so they are in the loop!

The girls in Riga are amazing, so it would be well worth the trip. Hopefully he won’t be tempted to stray that night though, as we think there would be PLENTY of people watching on.

Scottish MPs are being asked to back an ‘anti-nudity’ law which would lead to pubs and bars being prevented from allowing strippers and stripograms to perform in their venue.

It may also lead to the closure of lapdancing bars as venue owners would have to apply for a special sexual entertainment licence every time an act is hired.

The hiring of a stripogram is common place on Edinburgh stag nights, as well as hen parties too, but there are fears that placing a requirement on bar owners to have a licence has created fears that the industry would be forced to go underground and therefore become more dangerous.

The topic is coming up to debate as part of a raft of changes to Scotland’s Criminal Justice Act.

Birmingham’s Golden Mile is set to play host to a fourth lapdancing club after the local council approved the proposal for a 24-hour venue called The Boujee Rooms.

The venue on Broad Street is currently a nightclub, but looks to become a new option for lads on a stag do in Birmingham, who already have three to choose from in this haven of the city’s nightlife.

The Boujee Rooms joins the Rocket Club and Legs 11 nightspot, while Cyclone club recently opened next door and also offers lap dancing.

Birmingham is one of the most popular destinations for stag parties in the Midlands and attracts groups from across the country who are looking for memorable pre-wedding celebrations.

Beer Pong is a drinking game that is particularly popular with bachelor parties in the United States and also increasingly with lads on a stag do here in England.

It turns out this activity can not only get you drunk, but also rich too as competitors at the World Beer Bong Cup are playing for a $25,000 first prize, so there is an excuse to brush up on your skills on your next stag party.

For the uninformed, beer pong is a game in which two teams assemble at opposite ends of a table that has 10 plastic cups filled with beer arranged in a triangle formation at either end. Teams take it in turns to toss pingpong balls into the cups. If a ball goes in, the cup is taken off the table and a member of the opposing team has to drink the beer in it. The first team to get rid of all 10 of its opponents’ cups wins.

It may not sound like it, but Beer Pong is apparently serious business. “No one is here to get drunk or act like fools,” said Sam Pines. “It’s a little rowdy, but it’s like any other sporting event. It’s all about competition and skill.”

A gadget-loving groom stopped his own wedding so that he could update his Facebook status while stood at the altar.

Dana Hanna, who was getting married to his bride in the United States, has emerged as an overnight star after posting his wedding day exploits on the internet.

The YouTube footage shows the groom stop the service and get his mobile out in order to write about his special day on the social networking site Twitter.

“Standing at the altar with @TracyPage where just a second ago, she became my wife! Gotta go, time to kiss my bride,” he posted.

What’s more, he also took the time to update his Facebook status from ‘single’ to ‘married’ before the ceremony was over.

Despite having come in for some criticism for the stunt from online commentators, Mr Hanna has insisted that using social networking sites are, for him, the best means of keeping in touch with friends and family, suggesting that they are not only useful for spreading news of an engagement but also for organising a stag weekend.

This comes soon after the ‘Beach Mate’ application, which is designed to help people organise group holidays such as stag parties, was launched on Facebook.

A new recording studio in South Yorkshire could provide an original and entertaining activity for stag party groups, the Star reports today (December 7th).

Miss B’s in Barnsley is offering wannabe singers the opportunity to live the pop star experience by creating their own track and having it recorded for posterity.

Libbi Hibbert, a national finalist in the Open Mic UK competition, explained that getting into a booth with a group of friends could be an amusing addition to a stag weekend.

"I’d definitely come here for a birthday party or a hen night," she told the newspaper.

"You get to jam along with your mates, have a great time and, at the end of the day, instead of a party bag or a piece of cake, you have your own CD to remember it by."

Both one and two-hour sessions are available, with the ‘professional experience’ priced at £129.50 and the ‘group recording experience’ available for £149.50.

A Yorkshire university is looking to recruit a ‘research officer’ to visit some of Britain’s most popular stag party venues.

The School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds is hoping to recruit a skilled academic who will be tasked with assessing how erotic dancing establishments have become mainstream entertainment over the past few years.

In particular, the new position will entail visiting dancing venues across the north of the UK, including those frequented by stag dos to Newcastle and Edinburgh, and interviewing the dancers themselves, as well as the clubs’ managers and the industry regulators.

However, the university has insisted that the £31,500-a-year post will be far more than simply a 12-month-long stag weekend.

“It is academically rigorous, high quality research into an area of legitimate public interest and concern. The research is externally funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC),” a spokesperson told the Yorkshire Post.

Newcastle stag weekends are among the most popular in the UK, with its Bigg Market home to some of the country’s top nightclubs and bars.

US couple Melissa Rycroft and Tye Strickland are set to tie the knot in December, but recently celebrated a joint hen and stag weekend in the party town of Las Vegas.

Insurance agent Strickland popped the question to his celebrity fiancée in June after she was rejected by Jason Mesnick on TV show The Bachelor.

Those who fancy a flutter can bet up to £1,000 per time on blackjack, while roulette has a maximum stake of £100.

The World Powerlifting Championships at the Bournemouth International Centre could provide an extra manly element to upcoming stag weekends.

Stags keen to enjoy a display of true masculinity could attend the event, which runs throughout the weekend from November 17th to 22nd.

While the powerlifting contest begins on the Tuesday, parties going on stag weekends in Bournemouth could be there in time to enjoy the culminating stages.

Saturday, November 21st, is the date for the 90-100 kg men’s event, with the heavier 110-140 kg category following on Sunday.

Doors open at 08:00 GMT but, with competition scheduled to last potentially until 20:00, there may still be time for stags to enjoy a lie-in.

The Bournemouth International Centre plays host to events ranging from ballet dancing to wrestling, meaning it could be a good destination for stag weekends at any time of year.

It was first opened in September 1984 following construction work valued at £19.5 million.

A former journalist has set up a business catering for stag parties, hen parties and other events for groups of up to 20 adults.

Former Bradford Telegraph writer Sue Greenwood has set up a website selling theme-based cocktail party packs, according to holdthefrontpage.co.uk.

Lovecocktails.co.uk is being marketed as a good choice for student house parties, dinner parties New Year’s Eve celebrations and James Bond theme nights, as well as being a warm-up activity for a stag night or hen weekend.

The business supplies the ingredients and instructions, leaving party guests to mix their own cocktails.

Ms Greenwood explained that journalists have to become experts in all sorts of subjects within a short space of time and this has helped her adapt to the entrepreneurial lifestyle.

"So picking up the skills and knowledge you need to try something new – whether it’s developing software or selling cocktails – is something I think we’re naturally better at," she said.

The website is the second online business the former journalist has set up this year – she played a major role in creating sweeble.com, which allows Brits to self-publish magazines and newspapers.

Other popular stag party activities include paintball, quad biking, archery and clay pigeon shooting.
