The BBC had been left baffled after photos emerged of a man with Stig, Top Gear’s famously mysterious driver.
However, the ‘mystery’ has been solved by The Sun, who discovered it wasn’t Stig at all, but merely a stag in fancy dress on his last night of freedom.
Andrew Southward was on his way to a stag do in Lancashire when he was spotted in the outfit, which had been snapped up on ebay for just £50.
The fancy dress outfit was convincing enough to confuse a nearby motorist, who was amazed by his luck at being able to have a photo taken with the man, who was in the trademark white jumpsuit and white helmet.
We expect to see the Stig fancy dress to now surge in popularity and it may rival the rather eye-catching Mankini, although probably not such a good option in hot weather.
