Millions brave the weather and the traffic

The start to the final bank holiday weekend of the summer could have been better as the country faces a continuation of the wet and gloomy weather that has stopped another drab British summer in its tracks.

If that wasn’t bad enough road and rail chaos is predicted as up to 52% of the population plan to make some kind of trip, many of whom will be heading abroad and those that haven’t will be wishing they had.

Travel organisation Abta said around 1.8 million Britons would leave the country between Friday and Monday.

The weekend is also exceptionally popular with stags ahead of Autumn weddings so expect the coastal resorts to be full up with lads deciding the best place to be on a wet day is in a bar and who could blame them.
