Millions learn a new hobby on holiday

Holidays act as the inspiration for millions of UK travellers to learn a new sport or hobby, according to new research.

According to the Post Office Travel Insurance research 7.1million UK travellers have picked up a new hobby in the past three years and is reminding holidaymakers to ensure they have adequate insurance to cover any mishaps that should happen when playing these sports.

Some popular stag weekend activities such as bungee jumping and rafting could require additional travel insurance cover, but even more mundane activities such as tennis can invalidate some claims.

Some UK travellers taking activity holidays in Europe may wrongly assume that any required medical treatment will be covered by the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). However, the EHIC should not be seen as an alternative to travel insurance.
