The World Cup summer and a lengthy spell of warm weather has been given as the reasons for a surge in beer sales in Britain.
There has been a 2.9% year-on-year increase – the first rise in four years, according to the Quarterly Beer Barometer.
However, the increase is thanks to sales in supermarkets and shops, which increased 13.7%, but pub beer sales were down 6.3%.
British Beer and Pub Association chief Brigid Simmonds said: “The World Cup has been a benefit and we can now hope the market is starting to turn a corner.”
