Increased sales of maternity wedding dresses have been flagged up as a sign of changing social attitudes.
According to Tracey Wilkinson of dress boutique Expectant Brides, more and more women are getting married while pregnant.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said she believes this shows there is less of a stigma around a child being conceived out of wedlock.
In addition, she stated that whereas people would have once postponed the wedding until after the baby is born, couples are now keen to go ahead with the ceremony during the pregnancy.
Ms Wilkinson commented: "There’s so much pressure in our society, they don’t think they’ll have time after the baby to organise a wedding."
This comes after a survey by Star Jewellers of Hatton Garden found that a record number of couples in the UK intend to tie the knot this year.
