Young and vibrant Budapest (the local pronunciation is "boo-dah-pesht") has a unique atmosphere that makes it a fun and friendly place to visit. Since 1987 Budapest was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List for the architectural significance of the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy Avenue. It is also famous for its natural thermal baths, so if you fancying relaxing after an evening of heavy drinking and mad dancing then this is the perfect way to do it.
Budapest Nightlife
While Budapest contains stunning architecture we appreciate that this is (probably) not the reason for your visit. You’re on a stag party and you want to celebrate the last night of freedom of the groom-to-be. Well you’ll be coming to the right place, as the city boasts a fantastic nightlife. However, Budapest is home to almost two million people, so you really need some help to know where to go. Budapest Travel Info
The city is actually quite big so at some point you are going to have to use some form of public transportation. There’s a metro, tram and bus service which are well connected and easy to understand. However, the system isn’t as reliable as some other EU cities – so keep that in mind. We recommend investing in a public transportation map which you can buy at any BKV ticket sales desk. Taxis can be dodgy, so avoid them whenever possible but if you are going to get a taxi, then make sure you get a registered one (or better yet call one yourself) and always agree on a price before getting in.
Budapest Stag Ideas
If you fancy something quintessentially Hungarian, head for a “Borozo” (Hungarian wine pub) which offer tasty, wallet-friendly Hungarian wines on tap – especially if you venture off from the main city square tourist traps. “Bulls Blood” is a must-try but you should also sample the Hungarian spirit “Palinka” which is a fruit-based spirit that will certainly get your night started in sensational style, especially in one of the city’s café terraces, beer gardens or “Ruin Pubs” which are the spots where locals relax with a hard-earned bevvy.
