60% of Brits to jet off abroad this year

A staggering 60% of British people are planning to head abroad for their holiday this summer, according to research carried out by Lloyds TSB.

Lloyds TSB questioned more than 2,000 UK residents about their travel plans for 2010 and found that in comparison to last year's 'staycation' popularity we are once again taking to the skies in our millions.

Europe was found to be the most popular continent for a holiday with 60% planning to visit a European country, followed by America (12%), Africa (5%) and Asia (4%).

A third of respondents said their determination to go abroad has been strengthened by the freezing cold winter we've experienced in Britain, while almost half are looking for beach holiday to soak up some summer sun.
