Cost Of A Stag Do

Cost Of A Stag Do

If you’re planning a stag do for yourself or for a close mate, one of the first questions you may be asking is how much you should be expected to spend.

The cost will vary drastically based on a number of factors, such as whether you’re buying flights or staying in the UK, what form of accommodation you book and how many days you’re planning.

I’ve gathered a number of statistics and figures that should help you to plan out your stag do and keep on top of costs.

That means that the most expensive destination in the EU for a holiday is Bratislava and the cheapest is Sofia. If you’re looking at a staycation, the most expensive is Newquay, while the cheapest is surprisingly London.

Difference In Cost Of Days Staying

Depending on whether you’re just booking activities, if you want accommodation and for how long will all play a massive role in the cost of your stag do.

For a one night stag do, the average cost is £166.11. For a 2 night stag weekend, the cost rises to £232.22. If you'd like to extend for a third night, the average cost per person is £284.42.

For stag weekends where just activities are booked, it has only been £129.23 per person, however this relies on everyone staying at home, ideal if you're making it local, but for most this is a time of celebration and the trip can be turned into a mini holiday with the lads.

Many people who book EU destinations also stay on for three or four nights, wanting to transform the stag do into a holiday, so this is evident in the increased cost.

Other Costs

The costs highlighted above are for Activities and accommodation, however there are a number of other costs that will be involved, with the average prices highlighted below, based on the last five years of data.

  • Transport - £30.66
  • Gift/Stripper - £20.34
  • Food & Drink - £78.44
  • Activities - £126.83
  • Accommodation - £35.82
  • Clothing - £15.16
  • Flights - £77.07
  • Insurance - £12.50

One number that we have noticed drop over time is clothing. This isn’t the clothing for the wedding, we’re predominantly talking about two aspects, stag do fancy dress and stag do t-shirts.

People have gradually moved away from these two aspects, partly because many bars blocked people from entering if they wore either stag do t-shirts or fancy dress, so we largely recommended against this.

Covid Impact

During the last year years, we saw a huge jump in UK stag do's, with fears around flights being cancelled due to lockdowns.

In previous years, 62% of all stag do’s went abroad, however in 2021 this dropped to 4%. Bookings in 2022 started to change, with 83% taking place in the UK.

Now finally we are starting to see improvements and a return to normality, with 63% of stag do's taking place in the UK.

Cost Of Living

The cost of living crisis has heavily affected the travel industry, leading to people looking for a bargain. This has led to an increase in bookings for Nottingham, Bristol and Bournemouth, while we have simultaneously seen expensive destinations such as Munich and Berlin struggle.

If you're worried about paying for the stag do, then read on to find out more about our monthly payment installment options.

Monthly Instalments

One of the best reasons to book with a stag do company such as ours is because each person on your stag do booking can do monthly payments, split out over several months in the build-up.

This is important, as not everyone will have the finances to pay a few hundred upfront.

Another aspect is that we can manage the group, taking finances from each individual, rather than you having to send bills and chase everyone up, which is an incredibly draining task!

On top of this, the stag do can be booked with simply a £50 group deposit.
