The perfect option for stag groups wanting to save a little money but not lose anything when it comes to comfort and atmosphere, the Generator Hostel is right in the city centre. It’s convenient both for the airport (25 minutes away on the 747 Airlink bus; get off at Ushers Quay) and the hugely popular Temple Bar where the pubs are bursting with traditional Irish folk music.
You’ll be staying in the lively Smithfield neighbourhood, very close to the Jameson Distillery for those of you with a passion for a dram now and again. As far as accommodation goes, you’ve got plenty of options, with twin rooms, and four-, six- and eight-bed dorms available, as well as a few singles for anyone in the group with a deep fear of snoring. Towels are provided too, saving you a bit of space in your luggage.
Facilities
The Generator Hostel Dublin has 106 rooms, from private rooms for two all the way up to eight-bed mixed dormitory rooms. Some rooms have a private shower room, whereas the larger dorm rooms all share a bathroom and toilet.There is a large lounge area that is open 24 hours a day, with a flat-screen TV and comfy seating area.
Food is served in the in-house restaurant from midday until 10pm, and the bar is open until late and also serves light snacks. There is a vending machine stocked with drinks and snacks in reception.
Lockable storage is available at the 24-hour front desk, along with a luggage storage area.
There is free WiFi in all of the rooms and public areas, along with chargeable internet terminals.
