Liverpool’s proud heritage of culture, sport and of course, four young lads called the Beatles, is a great starting point for a memorable stag weekend.
Celebrated as a European Capital of Culture in 2008, Liverpool remains a vibrant city today, still famous for its culture and architecture, along with some of the best nightlife that the UK has to offer.
By day, the city has plenty of exciting stag weekend activities for you and the lads to enjoy. And as the sun sets, Liverpool’s buzzing bars and massive club scene come alive and provide the backdrop for a legendary night out. But don’t make your Liverpool stag do a magical mystery tour - talk to our expert team about how we can help you make the weekend run like clockwork.
Great if you are looking for
Mustering your troops for the Liverpool stag is a piece of cake. The best way to get there is definitely by train - for instance it’s just a two-hour train journey from London, and the Lime Street train station is right in the centre. From there you can easily walk, or get a cab, to your accommodation. There’s a taxi rank right outside the station.
Driving in? There are several public car parks around Liverpool city centre where you can leave your car(s) with confidence for the duration. Alternatively, we may be able to arrange a stag hotel with parking if you need it.
If you do need to fly, then from John Lennon Airport to central Liverpool it’s a £25 taxi fare, or you can grab the CityLink 500 bus which gets you into town in about 30 minutes.
Getting around Liverpool city centre is a breeze because it’s so compact. However if you’ve been on the bevvies heavily the night before and don’t feel like walking, you’ve got plenty of options. There’s a great, cost-effective bus service which is operated by Merseytravel with two main city centre bus terminals – Liverpool One and Queens Square. The friendly staff here will be able to assist you with any bus enquiries you may have, and there are a great selection of ticket options to ensure that you get the best value.
There are also four underground Mersey Tunnel train stations around Liverpool city centre, with trains running every 15-30 or so. It’s between £4.50 and £6 for a Merseyrail Day Saver ticket, which provides you with unlimited travel across the whole train network and can be purchased online in advance, to avoid pesky queues.
Liverpool has plenty of taxis if that’s your group’s preferred method of getting around. Either grab one at a rank such as Lime Street Station, book one in advance, or just hail one on the street.
The CityBike scheme that launched in 2014 has recently closed at the time of writing, and is set to be taken over and reinvigorated by Swedish firm Voi, which curently operates the e-scooters that you'll spot whizzing around the city. Riding a Voi scooter is the perfect way to get around the city, for a resonable cost, without adding to the noise and pollution. To take advantage of this scheme during your weekend, simply download the Voi app, locate an available scooter via the map function, and scan the QR code on the handlebars to unlock. Be sure to take heed of the health and safety instructions, because they take a bit of getting used to and the last thing you need is for the wedding speeches to include tales of scooter-related-incidents!
Last, but certainly not least, you could opt to take a famous ferry 'cross the Mersey for a little sightseeing - sit out in the open air to clear your head and soak up the beautiful, iconic skyline. A round-trip ferry ticket will set you back just over a tenner per person and in our opinion, it's well worth the experience, not least because they blast out Gerry & The Pacemakers at top volume before you disembark.
Liverpool is bursting at the seams with excellent stag do activities for you and the lads to enjoy. You’ve got all the greats here, from a combined Archery, Air Rifle and Quad Biking Experience, to Bourbon Tasting, and even Nude Life Drawing. There’s something for every type of group to enjoy. And of course, with everything that Liverpool has to offer, you certainly won’t be bored if you have some time to kill in between your chosen stag activities.
Whilst you’re in the city, it’s definitely worthwhile trying to source tickets to watch the mighty Reds at the magnificent Anfield stadium, where you’ll be able to experience the uniquely electric atmosphere and witness the crowd belting out ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ as though their lives depend on it. However, if this is something you’re interested in, we certainly would recommend booking your matchday tickets in advance as availability is limited, ticket prices are sky-high, and they sell out very quickly.
We also recommend heading to Albert Dock, where you can shop, grab a bite to eat and indulge in a bit of ‘hair of the dog’ after your Liverpool stag antics. If you’d like to learn a bit about Liverpool’s history and culture, then this is definitely the best place to go. The Beatles Story is an absolute must if you’re in the area, and you can discover how four mop-headed lads from Liverpool made their fame and fortune – you’ll also get to see replicas of the Casbah, Matthew Street and the iconic Cavern, which is pretty cool stuff and where photo opportunities abound!
Then there’s that other classic Liverpool experience, taking a ferry across the Mersey. It’s a relaxed way to appreciate Liverpool’s famous architecture from the water, and good for clearing a hangover too.
Liverpool also has several fantastic comedy clubs if you’re looking for a laugh to get your night off to a good start. The Hot Water Comedy Club, widely regarded as the UK's best comedy promoter, has two award-winning venues in the city which regularly attract the biggest names on the circuit, as well as top notch up-and-coming talent.
As far as nightlife goes, you’re in safe hands when you book a stag do in Liverpool. This is a city that caters to every interest, with waterfront venues, warehouse parties, traditional pubs and super clubs, a diverse mix of entertainment that means you’ll never be stuck for ideas. As always, our expert Event Planners will be happy to provide you with suggestions on where to go in the evenings, and can even help with pre-booking you into some venues, such as the multi-storey Modo in the heart of Concert Square, or top pre-club destination Baa Bar, with its super-cool converted warehouse decor and impressive choice of shooters.
If you’re around the iconic Albert Dock during the daytime, we’d recommend heading to the Revolution bar where you can enjoy a drink and soak up the great atmosphere - we can book you in for a meal too if you fancy it. This is a fantastic location which is hugely popular with stag groups. If you're a die-hard Reds fan, note that it's not uncommon to spot some of the team's biggest names enjoying a drink or two in the posher venues around Albert Dock and on Castle Street.
A short walk away, you can showcase your best moves to some retro classics at Popworld. This quirky themed venue has some seriously cool interiors - think Andy Warhol meets Austin Powers - and there’s always some great drink deals around.
Thinking about the best areas in Liverpool for a stag do, you’ve got lots of great live music venues around the Cavern Quarter, while Concert Square is always buzzing with a younger crowd. The area around Albert Dock has lots of good drinking spots too, as does the uber-cool Baltic Triangle, a revitalised former industrial area with an edgy vibe to it. We’re also very fond of the Ropewalks district where you’ll find plenty of good beer gardens - ideal for sunny afternoons.
