Outrageous stag activities you only find in Eastern Europe
Complete with castles, thermal baths, and the mighty Danube River, Budapest (pronounced "boo-dah-pesht") is right up there with the most stunning capitals in Europe. A Budapest stag do is framed against the city’s magnificent architecture, not to mention a raft of exciting stag activities.
We consider the Hungarian capital to be one of the most welcoming cities in Europe, unfurling the red carpet for visitors and offering everything from wild nights out to bobsledding, shooting ranges, brewery tours and, if that’s your thing, watching two gorgeous oiled-up babes wrestle for your pleasure. And just as importantly, a pint in Budapest costs a fraction of what you’re used to – so be sure and check out our stag do guide to Budapest nightlife below.
Budapest is a large city boasting an excellent public transport system to make your life much easier. One thing we would recommend is taking a stroll around the city’s central historic districts to soak up the atmosphere and architecture. Similar to Paris, the city is made up of 23 districts, but as most of Budapest’s best nightlife is located in two main areas, you wont need to worry much about getting around at night.
Getting to Budapest
The Liszt Ferenc Airport is a 40-minute drive from the city centre. After you’ve got through customs, look out for Fotaxi (the oldest taxi company in the world, fact fans). It should cost around 9,000 Forint (HUF) for a one-way journey into town, which is about 25-30 Euros. You can usually pay by card too. There are unlicensed operators about - always confirm the fare before you get in. You won't find any UBER ride as the company has been banned in Hungary.
Going by bus directly to Deak Square in the centre of Budapest takes a little longer, but costs a fraction of a taxi. Or, you can simply let us take care of the legwork - we can arrange your return airport transfers to ensure there’s no hanging around, where you’ll be driven straight to your Budapest stag hotel.
Metros & Trams
Once you’ve arrived in the city, you’ll find it easy to navigate. Budapest has a fast and efficient metro system with four lines as well as trams (streetcars), trollies and buses. Grab a Budapest Card which covers all public transport for the best value, with free entry to many museums included too, just in case you fancy a little culture. However, you should keep in mind that the system isn’t as reliable as some other EU cities. We recommend investing in a public transportation map which you can buy at any BKV ticket sales desk.
Ferries & Bike Hire
The Danube River Ferry Service sees you travelling alongside local commuters and is an excellent way to do a little sightseeing while getting from A to B. Hiring bikes is another fun way to get around Budapest. The Mol Bubi scheme has docking stations around the city and costs around 40HUF a minute on the pay as you go rate. Do bear in mind that you'll also need to pay a 120HUF registration fee to use the bikes initially, which also includes your first 3 minutes for free. Since you're not locals, you'll only be able to use the 'Pay as you go' rate
Buses
Most public transport shuts down by around midnight in Budapest, after which night buses operate, or you can hail a taxi. Ubers are also an option. Remember that we offer convenient return transfers for all of our Budapest stag do activities that are reliable, safe and with English-speaking drivers, so you can have total peace of mind.
You’ve heard of beer bikes, but this my friend, is a beer bus. It’s the best party bus in the whole of Budapest, and here, you and your mates will enjoy a 60-minute sightseeing tour that includes unlimited beer throughout. Yep, you heard that right! Plus, all the beer will be served by a friendly onboard host, so you won’t have to lift a finger! Unlike a beer bike, there’s no pedalling involved, so just sit back, relax and take in the views as this bar on a bus gives you an unforgettable tour of the city.
Add an explosive twist to your Budapest stag do with this heart pounding AK47 shooting experience! You’ll head to a great shooting range, where you’ll be able to try four different firearms, under the expert tuition of a professional instructor. They’ll give you all a thorough safety briefing and will guide you through each gun, showing you exactly how to hold it and take aim. Top-notch safety measures will be provided throughout this activity, so there’s nothing to worry about. You’ll each have a go at using a Ruger, Glock 17, Mossberg MMR and of course, an AK47. Get ready to feel the adrenaline rush through your body with this shooting experience - it’s definitely something you wouldn’t be able to do here in the UK!
No trip to Budapest is complete without visiting one of the city’s thermal baths for a relaxing steam and spa sesh. It’s been a tradition since Roman times, and who are we to argue with that kind of history? We offer a couple of options here, and you can choose to visit with a full day pass or elevate your night out in style with an evening trip to the ‘sparty’. Get ready to immerse yourselves in an amazing visual experience, where the buildings are illuminated! There’s also a few bars here too so you can grab a beer and let the good times roll.
It’s always useful to know how to drive a tank, and if you’ve ever wanted to give it a whirl, now’s your chance! You and your mates will have a blast as you hop on this absolute beast, otherwise known as a VT-55 tank! Only one driver will be permitted per group, so we reckon that it’s up to the stag to chauffeur you all around in this monster vehicle! The rest of the group will be able to sit back and take it all in. Expert tuition will of course be provided by your professional instructor, along with a safety briefing. If it’s unusual you’re after, this is the one to go for!
5. Budapest Ruin Bar Pub Crawl
When it comes to drinking in Budapest, this Ruin Bar pub crawl is a real must. Ruin Bars are one of the city’s most famous attractions and are housed in all kinds of previously abandoned buildings - expect loads of cool graffiti and plants which create a unique atmosphere. And if you’re after the best way to discover the hottest spots, look no further than the friendly, expert guide that hosts this crawl. They’ll know exactly which Ruin Bars to take you and your mates to, so you can forget about having to do the research! It’s time to raise a glass and fully immerse yourselves in Budapest's lively nightlife!
6. Oil Wrestling
Nothing says welcome to Budapest like a spot of oil wrestling. That’s right, this weird and wonderful experience is the perfect way to stitch up the stag - just imagine the look on his face when he discovers what he’s in for - absolutely priceless! You’ll watch on as two stunningly beautiful women wrestle each other for your entertainment - fully doused in oil of course! They’ll be slipping and sliding all over the place and there’s usually the opportunity for the stag to join them in the wrestling ring too. The more the merrier, right? Check out the oil wrestling on a river cruise.
Whether you’re sticking to the classics or opting for a mix of these and some of Budapest’s more bizarre experiences, then you absolutely must book a session of go karting. You’ll head to a wicked, indoor track that features all kinds of exhilarating twists and turns that will put your driving skills to the test. During the session, you’ll be driving high performance karts and will take part in some practice laps initially to get you used to the track. After this, you’ll go head to head against your mates in an adrenaline packed qualifier, before getting stuck into a 12 lap race - reckon you’ll be able to make it onto the podium?
Make your way to this disused army base in Budapest and prepare to let the stag do chaos commence! Expect some awesome features here, including abandoned buildings, trenches, obstacles and rough terrain. All of our offered sessions include gun hire, safety equipment and full instruction. There’s also the choice of either 200 or 400 balls each. Whether you’re a seasoned commando or a paintball novice, this unique site is sure to be the perfect canvas for your experience. So get ready to embrace the thrills of combat, engage in teamwork and show off your paintball battle scars with pride! Return transfers are also included with this activity, so that’s one less thing to think about!
Sure, we all know one of the greatest ways to wrap up a top night in Budapest is by heading to one of the city’s biggest clubs, but how do you know where’s best to head? The answer? Leave it to us! We’re pros when it comes to an epic night out in Budapest, and know the most vibrant spots where you can keep the drinks coming and party your way into the early hours. We’ll arrange for you and your mates to head to one of Budapest’s brilliant clubs, where you’ll be able to bust some serious moves and celebrate the last weekend of freedom in style.
10. Three Course Hungarian Meal
While you’re here, you definitely need to head to one of the city’s traditional restaurants and try a bit of the national cuisine. And that’s where we come in! We’ll arrange for you and the rest of the lads to head to a great eatery, where you’ll get stuck into all kinds of Hungarian dishes. The country's national dish is Gulyas, known to us Brits as Goulash, but there will be plenty of choice on offer, including vegetarian options too. In addition to that, a nice cold beer is also included per person (wine or soft drinks are also available). It’s the perfect way to start off your evening and soak up an authentic, Hungarian dining experience!
Budapest has long been a firm favourite amongst our stag groups and it's easy to see why. Yes, the price of booze is definitely one reason, but there are plenty more. The city has stacks of amazing experiences that your whole group will enjoy, many of them that are typical for Eastern Europe which tends to have more of an ‘anything goes’ attitude, which you won't find in the UK. You'll also find a top mix of all of your classic stag do activities, such as bubble football and go karting, which we'll be happy to arrange for you. But if your tastes lie elsewhere, such as the shooting ranges, or watching a steamy shower strip show (yes, really!) then we can also oblige.
Budapest is great for sightseeing on foot, or from the river. One building you should definitely see if you have the chance is the spectacular Hungarian State Opera. 15 minutes’ walk away is another Budapest landmark, the New York Cafe, which many people consider to be the most beautiful coffee shop in the world. Seriously - this 19th century building has high, painted ceilings supported by marble columns, gold trim all around, and all manner of other period detailing. It’s not cheap - expect to pay around 8 Euros just for a coffee, but worth it for the experience. You don’t see this kind of place very often.
Budapest’s nightlife scene is justifiably legendary. Generally speaking, much of the action as far as stag groups are concerned is focused on two central areas: the 6th District and the 7th District, which are right next to each other, so you can wander between them easily. If you want to get your Hungary stag do off to the ideal start, why not book one of our private Guided Bar Crawls, accompanied by an attractive local lady, to show you around?
Ruin Bars and Pubs
Unique to Budapest are its ‘Ruin Pubs’. In parts of the city, especially the 7th District, some creatively minded entrepreneurs started taking advantage of the number of derelict buildings around. They bunged in a load of old furniture they had managed to scavenge, added sound systems in some cases, and these buildings have now become some of the city’s most lively and popular bars and clubs.
Most of our Budapest stag weekends base themselves in the 7th District however, in the 6th district, you’ll find Szimpla. This is one of the city’s most famous Ruin Pubs, offering live music, an eclectic crowd and a beer garden (not to mention a late closing time). Just next door is Karavan, where you’ll find loads of street food vans. Another good place for a tasty bite to go is Fuego, a Spanish chicken rotisserie, the birds spiced then spit-roasted for two hours, making for a succulent meal.
Nightclubs
Late-night, we recommend Aether, which opens at 11pm and is one of the most popular Budapest nightclubs for stag groups. The music seems to mainly revolve around techno, so if that's your cup of tea, then this is the place for you. An alternative and a highly popular option is the Akvarium Klub, located at Erzsebet Ter. This cutting-edge venue is also extremely popular with Budapest locals on the weekends, and has a public pool open in the daytimes.
And lastly, what we think may be the best night out in Budapest, and something that our Event Planners always suggest to stag groups. Taking over the city’s largest thermal spa every Saturday night, Sparty sees crowds of revellers gathering for a wet and wild evening set against a backdrop of electronic music and crazy visuals. You trade your cash for tokens on arrival - no need to worry about your money getting damp - then stow everything in lockers before joining the fun. Don’t miss this - it could easily be the most memorable night of your year. Talk to our expert team about how to get tickets and what’s involved.
Is Budapest good for a stag do?
Budapest is one of the great European cities for a stag do. Astoundingly cheap booze in atmospheric ruin bars, all your classic stag do activities, traditional thermal baths to enjoy, and all framed against the city’s magnificent architecture. We love it, we know you will too.
What is there to do in Budapest for a group of lads?
You and the lads will find a massive amount to do in Budapest, whether it’s Paintball, Quad Biking or an afternoon at a Shooting Range, Pub Crawls, Escape Rooms or a Steak Dinner with a Striptease for dessert. Whatever you’re in the mood for, we can arrange it for you, as well as convenient door-to-door transfers for all of your activities. And bring your Speedos, because you don’t want to miss one of the top Budapest things to do, which is a few hours in one of city’s many thermal baths.
Can we trust your Budapest stag do reviews?
Our Budapest stag do reviews are provided, unfiltered, through Trustpilot, so you can be sure they’re 100% genuine. We’re immensely proud that we have an average rating of 8.8 / 10 from over 1,300 reviews, and we’d love to hear how you got on in Budapest when you get back. Every review we get is helpful to stag do’s in the future looking for honest, reliable advice.
Can you arrange a Budapest beer bike?
Among the many Budapest stag do activities we can arrange is a fun beer bike tour. Essentially, you and the lads do the pedalling, while a driver / guide does the steering. You can drink as you go along, travelling from bar to bar on a fun and well-lubricated sightseeing adventure.
Can we visit a shooting range on a Budapest stag do?
We can arrange a shooting range trip in Budapest for your group - something that is very rare in the UK. You’ll be able to fire up to 9 (9!) different weapons, including a glock, a Remington 870 a Walther-HK MP5 and of course the famous Colt M4, with a professional instructor at hand to show you how to handle the guns. Make it even more exciting by turning it into a competition - lowest score has to down his first beer of the night.

The answer is simple – Value for money. It’s one of the cheapest destinations we offer and it gives a range of unique activities you can’t do anywhere else. You can also find pretty low priced flights. It’s also the best destination for groups. Budapest also has really cheap beer, starting at £1.10, good traditional food and an overall awesome vibe.
Budapest offers some pretty awesome activities and the best thing is that a lot of them are only available here. I would suggest the beer bike experience. You and your group will be doing some sightseeing by pedalling on a group bike and drinking at the same time.
If you are looking to prank the stag, the stitch up experience is the way to go. This will involve a fake arrest made by a Hungarian policeman, who will handcuff the groom-to-be for something “he did wrong” (this is the stitch up). He will be told that they are taking him to the police station, and cover his head with a sack so he doesn’t see what’s going on. The final destination? A strip club where the you (the group) will wait for him in stitches of laughter and he will get a lap dance.
The chain bridge which is an iconic bridge and it joins the Buda and the Pest sides of the city, which is the old and the new parts. Everyone does it so you definitely don’t want to miss it whilst you’re there.
The Buda Castle is a must see for those stags who want to get a cultural gain from their weekend away. How did kings live in Hungary? You will find out by visiting it.
The Thermal Pools, of course. The Lukacs baths are heated naturally by hot springs and are the biggest in Hungary. They are situated in the city centre and they are a must try for newcomers to the city.
The ruin bars are also unique to the city and I highly recommend them.
