Mince On Toast

Mince On Toast

Categories: Stag Weekend News

I grew up to mince on toast, so I was really happy to see people posting and asking about this new craze. In fact, I couldn't help myself, I had to post the way my mum used to make it for me and the way I've been making it over the past decade.

Ingredients

250 grams of beef mince

2 cloves of garlic

2 Tbsp of tomato paste

1 glass of red wine

1 carrot

1 onion

beef stock

1 Tbsp of oil

Pinch of paprika

Pinch of curry powder

More cheese than you can throw a cat at

Method

  1. Heat some oil in a frying pan. Cut the onion and garlic into fine pieces and insert into the pan on a medium to low heat.
  2. Add some VERY finely cut carrots
  3. After two minutes, add the beef mince and cook until brown (7 mins approx)
  4. Add the beef stock, tomato paste, curry powder and paprika and then turn the heat down to a low temperature, cooking for 20 minutes
  5. Take the food off the stove and then add some more oil to the pan, a bit more finely cut garlic and then two slices of bread.
  6. Heat the bread for 2-3 minutes, turning half way through
  7. Place the two slices of bread onto a plate and grate some cheese on top. Then add the mince over and add some more grated cheese.

I'm sure there are plenty of different ways to make this tasty meal, but this one is the way I grew up to and I wouldn't change it for the world. A lot of people use Worchester sauce or Mustard, which could be worth experimenting with, but I'm truly stuck in my ways!
