Year round sunshine and amazing sandy beaches
Daytime stag activities from party boat cruises to golf and water parks
Thrilling nightlife scene especially in the famous Playa de las Americas
Tenerife is one of our most enduringly popular stag do destinations in Europe. This Canary Island cracker basks in year-round sunshine, with 250 miles of beaches where you can enjoy watersports galore or soak up the rays on the sand. As for the nightlife in Tenerife - we’ve never heard of a stag group coming home disappointed, put it that way.
Much of the evening action on a Tenerife stag do focuses on Veronicas and Starcos in the resort town of Playa de las Americas, where the bars get going around midnight. Save some energy for the daytime though, because there’s a wealth of activities to enjoy here from waterparks to surf lessons, jeep tours and golf. Get the party started with our ultimate stag do guide to Tenerife.
One of many reasons to recommend a stag do in Tenerife is that it’s just a 4.5-hour flight from London, with plenty of regional flights available too. And from Tenerife South airport to Playa de las Americas is just 20 minutes, and 30 Euros by taxi. Or you could arrive in style, with door-to-door airport transfers arranged by us right to your Tenerife stag hotel for total convenience.
Getting around Tenerife is easy enough, especially if you hire a car, though at least one member of the group will need to stay sober every day. This is a hugely popular summer holiday destination of course, so book early if coming in July or August. We can always book transfers for your stag activities wherever they’re needed.
There’s a frequent bus service – however, it’s worth purchasing a Bono Bus Ticket from a shop or newsagent (not on the bus itself) which will lower the price of each trip by around 50% for journeys over 20km and 30% for journeys under 20km.
If you’re staying in the capital Santa Cruz, to the north of the island, there’s a tram service, while Playa de las Americas further south is served by a tourist train, and there’s a free bus out to Siam Waterpark if you plan a day there (which you really should). Los Cristianos is a few miles along the coast from Playa de las Americas, a short taxi ride away. There are plenty of taxis around, which are handy when you stumble out of the clubs in the early hours.
Tenerife enjoys a sunny and warm climate, averaging around 16°C in winter, and 30°C in summer, so if you’re there at the height of peak season, stay hydrated and stick to the shade in the midday sun. No-one wants to conk out with sunstroke on the biggest weekend of the year.
Our top-rated stag do activities in Tenerife naturally revolve around the beach and the sea, as you’d probably expect in this Canary Island paradise. Watersports are a huge deal here - El Medano along the coast from Playa de las Americas is renowned for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Our own Watersports Package goes a little more extreme, featuring jetskiing and flyboarding.
Another classic Tenerife stag experience is the Party Boat Cruise, and you will not be disappointed with one of the island’s most popular booze cruises from Porto Colon, with onboard DJs, a free bar for the first hour, and a swim stop halfway through. A great way to meet people before the night really starts.
If the heat gets a bit too much for you, then why not cool down with a trip to the awesome Siam Water Park? Stuffed with waterslides of all kinds, including the jaw-dropping Tower of Power, where you’ll plunge down an almost vertical 29 metre drop, and even a slide through an aquarium! There’s also a great lazy river in which you can float around all day, and an imitation beach where you can relax or catch some waves in the massive pool which has regular tidal wave sessions.
Some stag do’s in Tenerife are looking for something more refined, so consider spending a day at one of the island’s premier Beach Clubs such as Kaluna or Papagayo, where you can chill to Balearic beats with handcrafted cocktails in your private cabanas, watching the sun go down, or the gorgeous women around the pool.
Other popular stag activities in Tenerife include whale-watching boat trips, and hiking up the volcanic Mount Teide. You’ll literally have your head above the clouds as you make your way up this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take in the breathtaking views via a bus tour, or rent a car and drive up the winding roads. You can then take a cable car right up to the top (some 3,718 metres up). This is perfect for a bit of male bonding but most probably one to avoid if you’re hanging from the night before.
As for beaches, there are plenty to choose from; Tenerife spent a lot of money transforming its rocky coastline into a sandy paradise for locals and tourists alike, so catching some rays during your stag do is an appealing prospect. We suggest checking out Troya beach in Playa de las Américas, which is ideal for groups of lads. Here, you’ll find golden sands and turquoise waters, and there’s loads of sunbeds available in addition to a great variety of water sports. The promenade is also packed with copious amounts of bars and places to eat, so you won’t be too far from a tasty snack. Do bear in mind that this particular beach gets packed pretty quickly, so it makes sense to head down as early as you can.
Food-wise, this being an island you’re never far from a seafood feast, and it’s always fresh off the boat. And while you’ll get all your favourite fast foods to soak up the booze after a night out along Veronica’s, we’d definitely recommend hitting up one of Tenerife’s many traditional Spanish restaurants at least once, to sample the local cuisine.
Playa de las Américas is the very heartbeat of Tenerife’s nightlife, and you’ll never struggle to find an excellent bar in these parts. Head to the centre of the action, and you’ll find a massive array of bars and clubs at the complex located down the famous Veronicas Strip. Top drinking spots in Playa de las Americas where you won’t go wrong are Lineker’s, Yordy’s and Revolution, with drinks deals all over the place, as well as happy hours. Things get going properly around midnight, so pace yourselves.
Los Cristianos, a short taxi ride along the coast from Playa de las Americas, is also a hive of drunken shenanigans, with dozens of bars and clubs along the street of San Telmo where you’ll find a good time.
For your first night on the island, why not let The Stag Company show you around? We’ll organise a superb Private Guided Bar Crawl for you and the boys, during which you’ll take in some of the hottest bars in the area, with a shot in each. A great way to get your bearings, and get to know each other if you don’t already.
Perhaps you’d rather begin the evening with some tasty food before hitting the bars? If so, we can arrange for you and the guys to enjoy a delicious two course Traditional Meal, washed down with a couple of beers. And if you’d like to finish the night on a high, then we recommend our VIP Nightclub Entry option. You and the lads will pay a visit to Tramps, one of the best house clubs in the Canary Islands and a Tenerife institution. Once you step inside this club you’ll be greeted by an electric atmosphere, a sophisticated VIP area, a massive dance floor, four bars and some top tunes!
Some stag groups like to stay for a week, and if that’s you, then you’ll probably want at least a couple of nights taking it easy. For something a little more chilled, the town of Costa Adeje may be the place for you with a variety of great bars and restaurants and a considerably more relaxed atmosphere.
As is the case in any destination where you get large groups of drunk people, there are scam artists around, and worse. Always look out for your mates, stay in touch, and if anyone is worse for wear, make sure they get back to your hotel safe.
