Bournemouth hosts World Powerlifting Championships

The World Powerlifting Championships at the Bournemouth International Centre could provide an extra manly element to upcoming stag weekends.

Stags keen to enjoy a display of true masculinity could attend the event, which runs throughout the weekend from November 17th to 22nd.

While the powerlifting contest begins on the Tuesday, parties going on stag weekends in Bournemouth could be there in time to enjoy the culminating stages.

Saturday, November 21st, is the date for the 90-100 kg men's event, with the heavier 110-140 kg category following on Sunday.

Doors open at 08:00 GMT but, with competition scheduled to last potentially until 20:00, there may still be time for stags to enjoy a lie-in.

The Bournemouth International Centre plays host to events ranging from ballet dancing to wrestling, meaning it could be a good destination for stag weekends at any time of year.

It was first opened in September 1984 following construction work valued at £19.5 million.
